HOPE VALLEY CHRISTIAN YOUTH WORK
The 6 villages of the Hope Valley lie in Derbyshire’s Peak District, in the middle of England
The Hope Valley Christian Youth Work ( HVCYW)
was set up in 2002 to support and coordinate Christian youth and child activities in the Hope Valley. This area is interpreted flexibly, and HVCYW currently supports activities in Bamford, Bradwell, Castleton, Hope and Hathersage ( Grindleford and Edale are also potentially in the area to be
covered).
In recent years the Association has used the shorter name of Hope Valley Youth. As such it supports youth and children in two ways. There are some occasional Valley-wide activities which it provides directly. Much bigger, indeed predominant, in resource terms is its work supporting a number of independently managed clubs and groups provided
locally in the villages by churches or inter-church groups. A high proportion
of these organisations (but not absolutely all) are helped, through the supply of skilled leaders and support staff, advice, and cash resources. This support work covers a number of primary age after school clubs meeting once a week in term time; it also covers two informal drop-in centres for teenagers, open selected nights of the week in term time,
one at each end of the valley, in Castleton and Hathersage respectively.
Through these pages you can find out much more about our work among the children and young people in Hope Valley. Check out the times and places for each club. Join in the fun days, events and celebrations and add your news to this website!
We hope you enjoy your visit!
